EMERGENCY CARE

EMERGENCY CARE

Sometimes our furry patients have emergencies and the UPSTATE AMC team is not available.

In these cases we refer Northway Animal Emergency Clinic or UVS 24 Hour Emergency Care.

Both locations are pleased to offer emergency doctors available for emergency walk-ins, referrals, and transfers 24 hours a day.

Sometimes our critical care patients require overnight specialized care where there is ease in transferring the patients.

With both critical care referrals and direct transfers alike we recognize that frequent communication will be essential in ensuring the best possible collaboration and medical care. If your pet presents to the emergency service your family veterinarian will be immediately notified of your pet’s arrival and kept updated with a case summary or referral report sent (either via fax or email) at the time of discharge from the hospital.

PET INSURANCE INFORMATION

PET INSURANCE

Let's talk pet insurance… UPSTATE AMC is going to reference a great updated article from Canine Journal - https://www.caninejournal.com/pet-insurance/

One of the things Canine Journal prides itself most on is its continuous, arduous, unbiased analysis of the pet insurance industry. They have a constant watch on this sector and audit their reviews of companies on a regular (quarterly and annual) basis. Before showing you who they think is best, Canine Journal stresses that their top picks may not be the right fit for you because policies are dependent on so many variables, in particular, your location as well as your pet’s breed, age, and current health status. You’ll need to do a little homework to find the best provider for your animal, but it will be worth it. They recommend you begin by Asking Providers These Questions. It will not only help you narrow down a provider; it will teach you a lot about the types of pet insurance available, coverage options, industry terminology, as well as specific things to look for in companies.
